About PedalCare
PedalCare helps cyclists keep their bikes safe and well-maintained by making it easy to record service history, track component mileage, and receive timely maintenance reminders. When you connect your Strava account, PedalCare uses that account’s ride summaries to automatically update bike mileage and to suggest relevant service intervals — saving you time and ensuring maintenance happens when it matters most.

Quick data-deletion request template (copy & paste)
Subject: PedalCare — Strava data deletion request Body: "Hello — please delete all Strava-derived data for my PedalCare account. My PedalCare account email is [your email]. My Strava username is [your Strava username]. I understand you will remove the associated Strava data and confirm when deletion is complete. Thank you."
Connecting Strava (what to expect)
- Open PedalCare and go to Settings → Connectors → Connect Strava.
- You will be redirected to Strava’s authorization page. Review the permissions requested and accept them to allow PedalCare to access your Strava profile and activity summaries.
- After completing authorization you’ll be returned to PedalCare and your rides will begin to sync into your bike mileage and service logs.
We only request the minimum Strava permissions required for the features described above. Connection is always voluntary and controlled by you.
Disconnecting Strava
You can disconnect at any time:
- From PedalCare: Settings → Connectors → Disconnect Strava.
- From Strava directly: Log in to Strava.com → Settings → My Apps → Revoke access for PedalCare.
When you disconnect, PedalCare will stop requesting data from Strava for your account and will remove or anonymize Strava-derived data as described below.
What Strava data PedalCare accesses
When you authorize PedalCare, we access only the connected user’s:
- Basic Strava profile (display name, username) for display and attribution.
- Activity summaries (ride date, basic metadata, and distance) used to derive mileage for your bikes.
We do not request or display other Strava users’ data. We never request or store Strava credentials — authorizations are handled through Strava’s OAuth flow.
How we use Strava data (user-facing use cases)
- Automatically update per-bike mileage so you don’t have to manually enter ride distances.
- Populate service logs with the ride date and distance that triggered a maintenance reminder.
- Trigger reminders and suggestions for service intervals based on actual ride distance and elapsed time (e.g., chain service after X miles).
Data retention, caching and deletion policy
Short-term caching: Raw API responses and any Strava-provided data are cached short-term only for performance. We do not keep raw Strava API responses in cache longer than seven (7) days.
Derived data: Mileage totals and service logs that were created using Strava data are stored as part of your PedalCare account so they remain available to you. If you request deletion or disconnect Strava, we will remove Strava-derived data for your account promptly and will ensure any Strava data is no longer displayed within 48 hours wherever required by the Strava Agreement.
Deletion on request or disconnect:
- Stop making further requests on your behalf to Strava.
- Remove all Strava-derived records from our systems and caches within 48 hours (and remove cached API data immediately, in any case within the 7-day cache limit).
No resale or sharing: We will never sell, lease, or share your Strava data with third parties. We do not use Strava data for advertising, analytics products sold to third parties, or AI/ML model training.
Security and privacy summary
- Encryption & channels: All data exchanged with Strava and within PedalCare is transmitted over secure, encrypted channels (HTTPS).
- Authentication tokens: OAuth tokens are stored securely. We follow standard best practices to limit exposure and rotate or revoke credentials when needed.
- Breach handling: If we learn of a security incident involving Strava data, we will notify Strava and affected users promptly (within 24 hours of discovery where possible) and take immediate remedial action.
- Privacy policy: Our Privacy Policy explains in plain language what we collect, why, and how you can manage or delete your data.
Troubleshooting — common issues & fixes
Unable to connect / OAuth flow fails
- Ensure you have an active Strava account and are logged into Strava before authorizing.
- Check network connectivity and try again.
- If the authorization page shows an error, copy the error text and contact support with that text.
No rides imported after connecting
- Allow some time for the initial sync — the first import may take a minute.
- Check that the correct Strava account was authorized.
- If rides are missing, try disconnecting and reconnecting (this can refresh permissions).
I revoked access on Strava but the app still shows data
Disconnecting via Strava may take a short time to propagate. Use PedalCare’s Settings → Disconnect as well, and contact support if data persists past 48 hours.
I want to delete my Strava-derived data
Use the data-deletion template above and email support. Include your PedalCare account email and Strava username to speed processing.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Do you use Strava data for advertising or sell it?
No. We never sell, license, or otherwise disclose Strava data to advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.
How long does a Strava sync take?
Most syncs complete within a minute for recent activities. Initial imports may take a little longer.
Can I disconnect Strava later?
Yes. You can disconnect from PedalCare or from your Strava account at any time. After disconnecting, Strava-derived data is removed from PedalCare within 48 hours.
What happens if I delete my Strava activities on Strava?
If a Strava activity is deleted from Strava, we will reflect that change in PedalCare within 48 hours, removing or updating any Strava-derived entries.
